Is Google Going Social? The New Privacy Policy Doesn't Think So
by Anne Fox
Google released its new privacy policy on March 1. There are several things described in the new privacy policy but in understandable terms, Google has been collecting information and recording search behaviour of its visitors so they know what search results it will give its searchers best.
As an example of the usage of data collection, you'll sometimes notice when using Gmail that if recently you might have sent several emails to a lecturer, then the sponsored links showing on the right hand side of the Gmail interface will probably be links associated with instructors, tutors, or educational institutions.
Is There An Impact To SEO Of The Recent Privacy Policy?
If anything, the brand new privacy policy reinforces Google's core function as being a search engine, amidst it releasing Google Search, Plus Your World which is a social networking site.
The slight collaboration between the privacy policy and SEO might be because Google will give its end users an original experience in the search according to what information it has collected from the user. For instance, for anyone who is using Google Docs and would like to send the document using Gmail, Google can show the e-mail addresses of the Gmail contacts whom it supposes the document is going to be sent to.
Is There A Way To Stop Google From Accessing Your Data?
The beauty of using Google is freedom. Even as it introduces numerous products which, for many people, do make sense to collaborate, searchers still have the option which products to use.
Search Plus Your World, for example, provides you with private searches rather than the public results. But you should sign up to your Google+ account first before you can access private search. If you are looking to know the search results on the whole, then don't register to Google+. If you wish to know what your friends think about a particular search query which you have put into Google, then sign in to your Google+ account to obtain this information.
However Google innovates, it's going to remain as a search engine. And because of this, SEO may have continuing relationship with the largest search engine in the world.
