Picking ATV Trailers To Transport Your Quads
by Stewart M. Medina
ATV trailers are useful for pulling and storing your quads so that you can take them to several different trails and courses all through the country. Unlike other trailers, these ones are specially designed and made for using with quads. You will have the choice of flatbed or enclosed pull-behind vehicles to be used with your quads. Both have distinctive price ranges, so you'll have to look over your budget as well as assess the advantages of each before making a decision.
Flatbed ATV trailers are open, have a short fencing around all sides, and a gate in the rear that folds down into a ramp. This allows you to drive or push your quad up onto the platform easily. Pull-behind trailers that are open with just a small enclosure around the perimeter are usually less expensive than the ones that are completely closed in. They are most suitable for pulling the quads to their locations, but are not ideal for storing or protecting the vehicles from weather and other damage. While transporting four-wheelers in this type of pull-behind, you will need to have them covered so that they are not damaged.
For those that want more protection for their quads, or are looking for a "mini garage," they can consider looking at enclosed ATV trailers. The heights of these are usually about 8-9 feet so that people can stand in them and walk around. Given that these are larger and have more capabilities, they are often more expensive than the flatbed type. Along with having more space, people can rest easy knowing that their quads are also protected from damage and deterioration from transport. People are also able to put additional items and gear in this kind without needing to tie it down before driving.
For people that have several four-wheelers or would like extra space to carry their vehicles or equipment, there are car haulers that are also available. These are available in both flatbed and fully-enclosed types and are quite a bit bigger measuring about 24 feet long instead of 10. You can usually find this type in the same price range that you would find others that are made just for quads, but they can also be slightly more costly. You might need to find a special truck, or at least a bigger one, since this type of trailer is much bigger and heavier than the others.
Unless you plan to ride your four-wheelers on your property or in your back yard solely, you will need to look into obtaining ATV trailers for transporting your quads. You are sure to find one that fits your budget with several different kinds to choose from including flatbeds, enclosed ones, and specialty ones designed for hauling cars. Once you have established your needs, you will be able to find a pull-behind to meet your needs so that you will be riding the off-road trails in no time.
