by Roger Waters

Some online businesses do not require a website, but a very high percentage of them do. So for those that do, how else can you expect to sell your fabulous services or products? But you will also need to method to gather information such as customer email addresses, etc. But it's not just a matter of having a website in order to produce an online income. What you'll need is a converting website - one that converts browsers and visitors into buyers. When you are first starting out you probably have an idea of what kind of website you'd like to have. How can you tell if the picture in your mind will closely match a site that makes money? We'd like to share some ideas that will help you in this area of site design.

You'll find it very beneficial to regularly update your site with fresh and good content. Eventually you'll begin seeing higher traffic numbers to your site. This will also compel people to go back to your site for your updated content. This is more important for static websites because it's easy to let them go for a while without updating content. Updating the website regularly shows visitors that you care enough about them to make sure that your content is relevant and timely. This will make them more likely to trust you and buy from you.

Only showcase the best products possible and only give top quality information and content to your readers. If your products are good, then describing how useful and beneficial they are should be an easy task. And providing solid content and information that your visitors want to read will help in that regard. The more you resort to large images and small amounts of text, the less likely people will be to buy from you. The last thing you want is for a site visitor to feel like he has wasted his time by visiting your website.

It's always helpful to keep a healthy proportion between sales copy and informational text. You'll want to avoid turning-off people, so do not have an over-abundance of copy devoted to selling. Too much heavy-handed selling will surely make people go away and check out your competitors. A decent standard is 25% sales copy and the rest is informational or entertaining depending on your site. Gentle selling will almost always have more success than aggressive selling, and you want the reader to trust you. Naturally, you want the visitor to feel trust, keep reading your site, and then make a buy. Selling without enough pre-selling does not work, ever.

It doesn't need to be hard to make money online. You can almost sell anything online, successfully, if your site is up to par and your marketing is good. Naturally, how well your site looks in the end is up to you - it takes time and work. The good news is that, the more work you put in to your website, the more likely you will be to make money. Making sure your website is good is mostly common sense but following the tips in this article certainly won't hurt!
