Your life revolves around your career. Depending on your career, you'll make decisions where to live. You will make decisions what time to awake each morning. You'll make decisions on what time to go to sleep every night based on your career. Your career affects everything you do and every decision you make more than any other area of your life. Most people do not realize that the average person will work no less than 40 hours per week, 160 hours per month, 2,084 hours per year and over 80,000 in a lifetime.

If you are a strong achiever, chances are at some point in your career you'll work more hours that the average person. In this case you're not average; you strive to be more than average. Hopefully, you are not just working hard, but working smart, and ultimately working right. In working right, eventually you will be able to work fewer hours and be just as effective. Again, if you look at the hours you're putting in for work, I am sure you're amazed, almost perplexed on how much your career affects your entire life.

There is a chance you will hold a position that you do not care for working. You may be employed there in order to use it as a stepping stone to get to the next level. There is no guarantee that you will love every position you hold. However, if you are going to spend the majority of your life in a career, it does not make sense to be in a career that you do not enjoy. Imagine working in a job you do not enjoy or working in a job you hate! Even if you do not care for the job, when you look at how much it has been consuming your life, you might become to hate it. Therefore, it is valuable to your physical and mental health to work towards a career that you love!

This is really one of the great successes of life - working in a career that gives you a measure of happiness, fulfillment and enjoyment. Of course, you can't wave a magic wand and make this all transpire. However, you could do a number of things to work towards the job you want. These factors that could make opportunities come about include:

* Read a lot of books in the area of expertise that you desire.

* Learn how to become a master networker.

* Go to boot camps and live trainings to learn more information.

* Job shadow people whose jobs sound like the job you would love.

In preparing your future career, you will feel more confident. You will have more self-esteem to take the opportunities that come your way. Also, sometimes you need to take a risk. I do not mean to quit your job, but I do mean you might need to invest in yourself towards the new job. You might consider a lower paying job with opportunities for advancement in a preferred career. You might start a new career as an entrepreneur in the evenings and weekends. As another option, you might, at least for a while, want to keep the job you have if it pays remarkably well. In this case scenario, work more hours and live more frugally to save up enough money to afford the career change you desire. Whatever you decide, make a decision that will allow you to do what you love. It will be so rewarding.
