James Malinchak's How You Can Set And Realize Goals
by Stanton Harper
Having goals in life is a powerful motivator towards success, nonetheless, lots of people have goals which seem impossible to realize. This incapacity to achieve goals is due to the reason they do not know effective setting and goal achievement strategies. There is not any substantial mystery to setting goals, but it does take a great deal of thought and logic thinking through your goals. It could take time to decide the best way to set and achieve goals for your personal style.
Regardless of your dreams write them down. Write them all down. Whether they're easy, difficult, far fetching, or easily accomplished, write them down. An extreme example of a goal may be that, as a child, you had a goal to one day walk on the moon. Many people would say that is just an impossible dream. However, there are certain people throughout the world who have walked on the moon. Is that an impossible dream now? No, it's possible. Therefore, it is not unreasonable to set and achieve goals which at first could seem impossible.
The first thing towards how to set and realize goals is to write down your goals. Clarify them. For instance, "Walk on the Moon". If you write this goal, then you have to think logically about the steps you have to take which will lead you ultimately to that goal. With the example used, these steps might involve learning about space, learning about astronaut training, and learning how to get into a program. Additionally, working towards this goal might be making the right education choices to acquire academically acceptance and ensuring you're entirely healthy and fit by following a nutritional fitness and diet program. All of these steps are quantifiable small goals. Write down a list of the quantifiable small goals which lead realistically to your main goal.
Next, take a look at your list and rearrange it so that you can see a logical progression from one step to the next. Think about a time frame. Allocate a time by which you think you can actually achieve the first small goal on the list, and write that date down next to it. Think about that goal in particular, what do you need to do in order to accomplish that? Once more, write down a list of goal steps you need to take in order to cross that small goal off your list. These goal steps are your action plan. Work through the remainder of your small goals in the same way.
You are now ready to set and achieve goals. Make yourself a goal plan based on the information you have compiled. Each goal step will lead to the completion of a small goal. Once you have completed the small goals, the main goal you thought was unachievable suddenly becomes achieved. Realistically the crazy dreams you had are no longer crazy and next thing you know you are set to walk on the moon!
