James Malinchak's Don't Be A Goal Setter, Be A Sure Goal Doer Part 14 of 14 CD #3

by Stanton Harper

James: When I grew up we used to sit down on the back porch and talk stories with the neighbors and all of that. I do not see any of that stuff going on.

Step 3 - List other people who can help you achieve your goal. I'm doing that right now. I just became friends, he came to one of my speaker bootcamps with a major and I didn't even know he was this. He's a major, major Hollywood movie writer. He wrote many, many successful movies.

He sat in one of my bootcamps 6 months ago that I do for speakers. He wanted to learn speaking. We're meeting about that and him possibly doing this movie thing for me.

I have all these other people who could help me that I've become known and I have known that I can talk to and ask them how did you do it? What did you do? What are the pitfalls? What do they look for? What do studios look for? How do we get this going?

Step 4 - Create my plan of what we are going to do. The end result is I have already seen it. The Premier, I have already cut out from the Hollywood Reporter and put my sisters movie as #1. We are at the end. I visualize it. I see all these talk shows having us on about how we are changing the face of the world. I started at the end and worked backward.

Step 5 - I thought about the possible obstacles and the solutions. Well we do not like this script. There's no violence. There are no drugs. There's no killing. There's no comedy. Well we will overcome that. We will find a way to overcome it.

Step 6 - Take action. What steps do I need to take? Well I'm taking the minor steps at this time, the mini steps. I'm meeting with this Hollywood writer. How do we write a script? How to we get the financing? How do we do this?

Step 7 - Evaluate the progress as we are going and make the necessary adjustments and boom next thing you know we are in the theaters.

I just say that for a couple of reasons. Number one to show you that it is okay to plan big every now and then.

Number two it put me on the hook. Now I'm accountable for following up and making this happen which I will. I was going to do it anyway, but now it's just even more so because it's on a recording.

Number three to hopefully inspire you that if I'm willing to take the initiative to go and do a movie, a small steel mill town kid, then you could make another sale. You could have more fun in your life. You could do whatever you want. You do not have to dream that big, but I would like you to on certain ones, but I would like to show you that anything is possible.

I just want to say that anything you want to achieve in your life, any goal, you can do it here. You can do it now. Just follow the 7-Step Plan for achieving any goal and be a goal doer not a goal setter.
