A College Student's View Of Fifty Shades of Grey?

The novel Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James was a surprisingly good read. The main character Anastasia Steele is taken aback by the beauty of the very rich and very hands-on Christian Grey. Gradually becoming his somewhat girlfriend but more rightfully named kinky sex slave, Miss Steele is slowly seduced into his world of sexual pleasure. Fighting to keep her emotions in check with this insecure emotionally inept big shot, Anastasia fights to find where she belongs in this sexually infused erotic romance.

E.L. James created such a believable world with the characters Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Compelling or over the top, doomed or not, Anastasia is someone that the reader is quietly praying for. Whether the reader wants her to succeed or not, Anastasia is not forgettable. With a shadowy past and a yearning for the sexually twisted, Christian only adds to the intrigue of the book.

The characters I must say truly become real in this world. Anastasia whether you as a reader find her compelling or dramatically over the top, stays with you as a girl that you hope will succeed whether you feel she is doomed from the beginning or not. She's a girl that you secretly root for or against, but still leaves a lasting impression. Even Christian with his mysterious past and his desires for the sexually awry is a character that you find interesting to follow.

Although I am not too accustomed with the genre, I do recognize it as erotica. If there are people that are prim and proper, the world E.L. James created may not be ideal. The content is very overt and comprehensive. Be on the lookout to cross the threshold into the world of BDSM. This world ranges from placid to outrageous to tasteless.

After picking Fifty Shades of Grey apart, James evenhandedly gave exciting plot and sexual adventure. For over six months, Fifty Shades of Grey has been a best seller. The opportunity to read this book is running out. If these books are up your alley then there are two other books to complete the series.
