Reading improves with Beast Quest

by Joe Gatley

Encouraging you children to read can be a extremely hard. The effort is usually worth it however the outcome of well read children is usually well round and well behave adults. There is plenty of choice of books out there to read so the trick is to find one which will hold your child interest especially if they find reading a chore. This is where Adams Blades series of books come into there own and many parent agree they really do the trick

The Beast Quest series of books is published by orchard in the UK and written by a writer called Adam Blade. The best bit is that Adam Blade does not really exist. He is in fact a writers name for a pool of writers who together produce Beast Quest. That matters not however as what is produces actually does work and does get children and boys especially reading . Usually they are left wanting more

Adam Blades Beast Quest Series consist of groups of six books. Each has a classic battle of good against evil storyline. The hero Tom and is wanna be girlfriend Elenna have to battle different monster in each book to ultimately complete a task set them by an evil wizard. The simple writing style is effect as it keeps the plot moving quickly and succinctly maintaining the Childs interest. There is enough in the books however to challenge moderate readers.

My son enjoyed reading the Beast Quest series from around the age of six. The series allowed him to extend his reading into longer chapter based books which followed a simple pattern. As his reading developed he flew through the books. By the time he had reached series nine at about 8 years old he wanted to move to books which offered more of a challenge and embarked on his journey through Hogwarts. However I would say the series is suitable for up to 10 year olds

The eleventh series of the book is soon to be publish which will add a further six title to be read. However I would try to ensure you start reading from series one as this sets the scene. Where possible the books are best read in order. The problem with this is that your child my develop reading so quickly that he never reaches the end. Although you wont have any problems waiting for the next series like we had. Additionally Adam Blade published bumper editions which are stand alone stories as well as "you decide", the chronicles of Avantia series, activity books and annuals. All in all the books by Adam Blade are great way to get kids reading
