Fast & Easy Tutorials on Title Tags You Do Not Want To Miss

by Jesus Welch

You may not think something like the little title tags at the top of your site pages matter a whole lot, but they do. They may not be what makes or breaks your business or profit margin but they are quite important to the rest of your SEO. Title tags are used a little bit differently with social media but you don't have to do anything different there than you do with normal conventions.

A very major blunder that is made the most often by newbies is putting something "cool" into the title tag. Or they just leave it blank or, worse, put in whatever comes to mind. You could see just about everything happening online with websites. You should use the primary keyword phrase for each page in its title tag. Each and every page is going to have the same keyword phrase and a distinct way of being optimized too. So you understand that you need to make 100% sure that you've got the right phrases in each title tag. It is the first couple of words that need to be able to truly grab the readers.

When you are working with the title tags trying to compose something meaningful and relevant, keep the length in mind. You are going to need to keep it at less than seventy characters. In fact, it's in your best interest to simply aim at the upper limit but not allow yourself to go past it because going past it is just a huge waste of time. It is important that your information to be displayed so that readers can connect with it. If it is longer, then the search engines will just truncate the rest that is over that upper limit. People and web surfers won't see it so you are going to lose value. More importantly, you don't want to have to make a hugely long list of phrases and hope that they will all be caught. Every page is extremely optimized for one primary phrase as well as a few secondary phrases and others that you probably won't ever be able to guess it.

When you're trying to write your title tag, try to make it the best tag for that page. Now you know how to handle that length requirement: don't use more than seventy characters. But you shouldn't use keyword phrases to fill up that space unless you truly have a long-tail phrase. So, you just need to use your primary phrase and then write out something that is relevant--don't waste time with the domain name. If you have the space available, include the secondary phrase for your page. You can also include some very catchy and grab 'em by the collar words in the very beginning.

There, just about everything you never cared about title tags, but you are a smart marketer and will make sure yours are done right. By making a simple checklist of things that your on page SEO must have, you can avoid the mistakes that we have mentioned. Now that you know what to do, it will be easy to avoid problems in the future.
