Familiarize yourself with its providers and what it can do for you. Well-known software is like Blogger and Wordpress. Make sure the software you eventually choose is user friendly.
The good thing about blogs is that they are easily customizable. If you don't like the preset theme the software gave you, you have numerous alternatives to change it. You can change the color, themes, background wallpaper and even the association of the icons on your blog. One great idea would be to customize your blog to match the general theme of the subject matter.
A good way to start off your blog would be to write a good guide on what your blog is about. It shouldn't be something that will bore your reader. And it is the quality of the content and not its size that is likely to attract the interest of blog guests. You will need to give yourself a goal of updating your blog in a timely fashion.
You can agree to do so each day, weekly, biweekly or even monthly. No matter which suits you is fine. However, you need to be consistent simply because one way of appeal to and keeping your followers is by updating your blog consistently.
