Is The XBox 720 Set For Release?

by Mark Malone

It has been quite some time now as the gaming world is waiting for any news of the Xbox 720 since its predecessor was launched almost eight years ago. While Microsoft is keeping a tight lid on anything from the console, it has nonetheless fueled a lot of excitement. Some gamers even went as far as making a bold announcement that that news of a possible release date would be made sometime in the upcoming E3 expose this June.

Microsoft made a formal announcement numerous years ago that the life expectancy of the Xbox 360 will definitely be ten to twelve years which indicates the chance of yet another console from the software application giant will definitely not discharged in the next numerous years. It might click for Microsoft to get in front of Sony and avoid them from discharging their PlayStation 4. Yet it will definitely not be the case this year.

Microsoft has done a marvelous job of staying in front of the other game console makers as it did damage to Sony during the PlayStation 3 launch a few years back. The result enabled Microsoft to gain strong hold of bigger market shares than Sony. And Sony is not too pleased with the intrusion. Gamers will not have to wait long since Microsoft could already be making plans to start a new chapter.

Since the launch of the Xbox 360, Microsoft lost over one billion dollars and with the global recession in play at the same time, financial woes were inevitable and losses are piling up. It might be a little hard for Microsoft this time around since consumers these days are on a very tight budget when it comes to purchasing materials that are outside of necessity.

By having Microsoft making updates to the 360 such as that of the Xbox 360 slim and the added Xbox Kinect, they are picking up on their investments while at the same time working behind closed doors on a brand-new Xbox console.

There was speculation that Blu-Ray might be the next generation choice of storage for the Xbox 720, but this was recently ruled out by Microsoft. The gesture control is likely to remain the same as the Xbox 360, and of course technology like Xbox 360 Kinect will be improved and built in. Eventually the console could move to a portable tablet form for convenience and gaming on the go, but this is probably some years away still. Plus there are too many veteran gamers that will want to keep the game pad; old habits die hard!
