Anywhere you look, you are being targeted by marketers. You might not know it, but it is perfectly working on you twenty-four hrs a day, and seven days a week. In movies, in fast food restaurants, in colleges, in modes of transportation, and online, ads are unsurprisingly there every time to take a glance at these places. In films, product placement is very common. But what is product placement?

Product placement does not only appear in films. Sometimes we can observe product placement in news programs, and occasionally music videos would feature product placement.

But among these, movie product placement is the most popular. There is hardly no movie produced nowadays that have no product placement. Sometimes, the main characters of the stories would be displayed speaking inside a prominent restaurant, or the son is playing game console that everybody all of a sudden desired to have, or the bad guy would drive an automobile which he uses to try and kill the main character.

A very good instance of this is the 2006 film Casino Royale that displayed numerous Sony items. This product placement is really an instance of self-promotion. Columbia Pictures is the owner of Sony so they place numerous Sony products in their movies.

Throughout sports events, there is still product placement. This is rampant especially in televised sports events. Usually, each cable television sports channel would obtain a sponsor and then their business logo would be flashed throughout the whole sports game.

Morgan Spurlock made a documentary in 2011 that was funded completely by product placement. The film had so much to say about the movie industry and also the product placement product placement on visual entertainment. More than 10 brand names financed the film. The documentary demonstrated how Morgan Spurlock went to corporation to corporation to ask if they want to include their product in a film, an advertisement for their products, in exchange of the movie's promotion, financial support, or simply just making a trailer for the film.
