Stormtrooper Costume Ideas to Inspire You

A Stormtrooper costume is one that never fails to get attention. Everyone who has seen Star Wars will know immediately which character you are playing and if you have good accessories will help you make a really great impression no matter which dressing up occasion you are attending. There are all sorts of ways to dress up as a Stormtrooper--it all depends on your budget and how authentic you want to appear.

The armor is the most essential part of the stormtrooper outfit. The armor is the white protective suit that the warriors wear over their whole bodies and that keeps them protected no matter where they go. Star Wars is incredibly popular and that means that there are plenty of places where you can find super high quality replications of the suits worn by the people in the movies. So, when you want to find a real and true collector's item, as opposed to a costume you'll just wear once or twice, you might want to pay the extra money for a realistic looking stormtrooper suit of armor and other accessories. However, for most things, it is enough to get a white jumper style suit that looks "close enough" to Stormtrooper armor.

It's possible to make a stormtrooper costume from scratch without spending much money, if you're resourceful and have a little time. You can get inspiration from images or scenes from the movie as to their appearance and then use things you already have at home or that are easy to buy to build your costume. You might, for example, be able to make armor for yourself from white painted cardboard. You also have to consider the helmet, which could be a sports, bicycle or motorcycle helmet that you paint or cover with a white material. Then all you need is a white pair of boots. It might be a little bit more complicated to build a blaster but it can be done...though you could also just buy a cheap blaster styled toy gun and use that.

If you have the resources and time you can create your own Stormtrooper costume from scratch. Find inspiration by watching scenes from the movie or looking at stills to see how they look and then build your costume using things that are easy to buy or that you already have at home. You could, for example, make the armor out of cardboard that's been painted white. The helmet is also important but you can use a motorcycle, bicycle or sports helmet that you either paint white or cover in white material. You can complete your costume with a white pair of boots. A blaster may be a little more complicated to make, but it can be done -or you could find an inexpensive blaster type toy gun that can be used for this purpose.

It's possible to be a lone Stormtrooper or you can coordinate with your friends and all go as Stormtroopers as part of a larger Star Wars theme. Stormtroopers are, essentially, soldiers so you could have a whole group of people dressed up this way which can be quite an impressive thing to see.

Ever since the first Star Wars movie hit the screens more than thirty years ago, thousands--if not millions--of people have put on costumes that have been inspired by this series. The Stormtrooper costume has become one that plenty of people enjoy wearing, most likely because so much thought was put into it by the costume designers on the films.
