What exactly are Blue Veins?

by Kai Davis

Blue veins have a resemblance to spider veins but smaller. They also are closer to the top of skin than blue veins. Often, they can be red or blue. They can seem like tree branches or spiderwebs using their short, jagged lines. They could be found on the legs and face and may cover either a really small or large section of skin.

Varicose veins could be caused by weak or damaged valves within the veins. Your heart pumps blood filled with oxygen and nutrients to the body through the arteries. Veins then carry the blood from the body back into your heart. As your leg muscle groups squeeze, they push blood back into one's heart of the lower body up against the flow of gravity. Veins have valves that act as one-way flaps to stop blood from flowing backwards because it moves up your legs. When the valves become weak, blood can leak back into the veins and collect there. (This issue is referred to as venous insufficiency.) When backed-up blood helps make the veins bigger, they could become varicose.

Spider veins is usually caused by the backup of blood. They could also be brought on by hormone changes, sun damage, and injuries. About 50 to 55 percent of women and 40 to 45 percent of men in the usa suffer from some sort of vein problem. Blue veins affect 50 % of people Half a century and older.

What factors increase my likelihood of blue veins and spider veins? Many factors increase people's probabilities of developing varicose or blue veins. Like for example ,:

* Increasing age. As you become older, the valves inside your veins may weaken but not function as well. * Medical history. Being born with weak vein valves increases your risk. Having members of the family with vein problems also increases your risk. About half of the those who have blue veins have a family member who has them as well. * Hormonal changes. These occur during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause. Taking birth control pills and other medicines containing estrogen and progesterone may also bring about the forming of varicose or spider veins. * Pregnancy. When pregnant, there is a huge increase inside the quantity of blood within the body. This may cause veins to enlarge. The growing uterus also puts pressure on the veins. Blue veins usually improve within Three months after delivery. More blue veins and blue veins usually appear with each additional pregnancy. * Obesity. Obesity or obese can put extra pressure on your own veins. This leads to spider veins. * Lack of motion. Sitting or standing for a long time may force your veins to work harder to pump blood to your heart. This may be a bigger problem if you sit together with your legs bent or crossed. * Sun exposure. This may cause spider veins around the cheeks or nose of a fair-skinned person.

Most varicose and spider veins show up in the legs due to pressure of bodyweight, force of gravity, and task of carrying blood from the bottom on the body as much as the heart.

In contrast to other veins in the body, leg veins possess the toughest job of carrying blood back to one's heart. They endure the most pressure. This pressure could be stronger compared to the one-way valves inside the veins.

Varicose veins is frequently seen on your skin. Some other common signs of varicose veins from the legs include: * Aching pain that may become worse after sitting or standing up for quite a long time * Throbbing or cramping * Heaviness * Swelling * Rash that's itchy or irritated * Darkening of the skin (in severe cases) * Restless legs
