James Malinchak Questioned On NPR Radio: Ideas In The Air Community College Of Southern Nevada Part 1

John: Good evening and welcome to Ideas in the Air. For those of you, and there are many, who've read the famous Chicken Soup for the Soul series of books the name James Malinchak might be familiar or you might have been in the audience for one of his 1200 motivational speeches at worldwide conferences and meetings.

James Malinchak appears to be consumed with wisdom. I know because I've heard him. But what he does, he doesn't appear to be old with a white beard and hard life experience. I think what he does have is wonderful life experiences. He was just recently named Consummate Speaker of the Year by a National Speakers magazine. He owns 3 businesses. He handled investments for many entertainers, authors as well as professional athletes. He lives in Las Vegas.

The other side of the coin reveals a writer and Associate Editor for the Best Selling Chicken Soup for the Soul book series. James welcome to Ideas in the Air.

James: Thank you John. I appreciate being here. I appreciate you having me on the air.

John: Well, it's been tough. Your schedule is coastal and constant. I think what I first want to find out from you is what do you speak about? You're a Consummate Speaker of the Year in Public Speaking. What do you mainly speak about?

James: Generally, most of the time I'm brought in to give some sort of motivational or inspirational message to start an event or to close an event. I really talk about the importance of your attitude and how you get to choose your attitude. We don't have many choices in life, but one thing we do have a choice over is how we choose to respond to things that happen to us in life. I really talk about the importance of choosing the right attitude. You don't control what happens to you, you control what happens in you. That is determined by how you choose to respond to various situations. I also talk about the importance of getting up when life knocks you down.

There's one thing that every single person in the whole world has in common and I do not care if you are tall or short, rich or poor, old or young, man or woman and I do not care where you originated from or where you are heading. There's one thing that I know for sure that every single one of us has in common and that's we all face problems. All of us experience hardships and we all get knocked down in life. What I like to pass on to audiences is that you should get up each and every time that life knocks you down. And you'll be knocked down because it's just a part of life. That's just the way it works.

Relating back to the first point. Choosing to have a great attitude won't stop anything in life from happening to you. But it will help you to deal with the stuff that does happen to you and it will help you to get up when life does knock you down.

Another point that I want to bring to all of the audiences is that you should have fun. Life is just too darn short not to laugh and enjoy yourself.
