Ultimate Fighting Championship, also known as UFC, is the largest promotion company for mixed martial arts in the world. It hosts the majority of the best ranking fighters of the sport and puts together events around the world. The organization is based in the United States and consists of eight weight divisions. UFC has its headquarters in Nevada and was first introduced in the early 1990s. The gloves are worn to keep the wearers from injuring or breaking their hands from punches. A jockstrap that has a protective cup and a mouth guard are mandatory and must fit the requirements.

There are several ways a match can end: technical knockout or TKO, knockout, submission, judges decision, forfeit, no contest and disqualification. There is a ten-point must system employed for all UFC fights. There are three judges that score every round and the winner of each will receive 10 points and losers will be issued nine or fewer points. There are more than 30 fouls that can be committed during a match. When these are charged, the referee may deduct extra points as penalty.

This industry has grown in popularity over recent years, particularly with the increased amount of TV coverage.
