How to Reply to Google Places reviews
by Dario Petkovic
As a web marketing company owner, I was confronted just recently with an matter of one of my customers getting a bad rating on their Google Local web page. Basically, the customer's tiff was that he (lets call your man Matt) had ordered the quote for an air-con installation yet nobody turned up.
My client did their due diligence and looked up their account and realised that the customer was called back then on the telephone that was provided at which a lady had responded and advised that they already have an a/c component! Therefore, to determine precisely why Matt didn't placed another call instead of submitting this negative review, a phone call was made to him to which he replied in a rude and unexpected style.
Now, this comment appeared suspect to me unfortunately there is certainly no way to verify whether Matt works for a competitor, i.e. there exists some form of conflict of interest or he is essentially unhappy and this is simply a case of misunderstanding. As my customer had already undertaken everything inside their ability, it was up to me as their SEO agency to attempt to remedy this via this major search engine.
Taking into consideration that something like this hadn't impacted any of my customers in the past, I decided to research a little bit more with Google as to what can be done about this. I envisioned that the person who owned the business, in this case my client would be able to have a right of response to this comment so anyone can view it and make up their mind.
Fortunately, this was the reality. Just one thing you have to ensure concerning your Google local page is that you're the verified owner of the Google Places site. Google has a really good information that gives you recommendations as to the easiest way to reply to a post or a review in which you as the vendor feel you have been hard done by. Do a search to discover how to effectively reply to a review of your business.
Since we were the verified owners of the page already, we were free to log on to our Google membership and write a reply to this, as it happens - poor review (strange in our honest opinion).
Needless to say that to retain the high reputation of the business, every entrepreneur should really be as wise as possible as it is the customer service as well as good-quality which can distinguish wonderful from bad businesses and in the end bring in ever more new customers.
