Children percussion instruments come in many designs and price range. The items can be made of rubber, wood or plastic and be squared, triangular or cylindrical shaped. Sometimes we shall find that the shakers come in sets and can have mixed shapes too in a set depending on how big the set is made.

The items are created to look like common fruits or vegetables and give the impression of being real fruits thus their colorful attraction to children. The different shapes and sizes make them produces varied sounds when played with.

The egg maracas are another type that is familiar in many families. These are made of plastic material that gives outstanding sounds when played with. Sometimes we may find the maracas being modified and fitted with handles. The plastic material use to make these play items is specialized in such a manner that is resistant to saliva soaking. This is important feature as toddlers would often try to chew them.

We also have the chime sets. These normally produce lullaby sounds and have been very effective to lure babies to sleep. Many parents would hang chimes over the bed thus producing sweet melodies when they swing lightly. Children's percussion instruments also help in the mind development of a child.
