Because internet marketing is mostly automated, more and more people are becoming interested in starting their own marketing campaign. You put up a website that people can visit to buy things, attract people to that website through links and other marketing methods and then sit back and wait for them to buy what you are selling or hire you for your services. With this view of things, it does not look like there is much effort at all. This is probably the mentality that causes many newer internet marketers to shirk their customer service responsibilities. The truth is that customer service is just as valuable to an online business as it is to an offline business. Here are some ways that you, as an internet marketer, can offer good customer service to you buyers and clients.
Send out an e-mail to your list and ask the people on it what they would like to see you do to improve your business. Let them know you may not be able to implement every idea, but that you do value their ideas. You might be surprised by the feedback that you get! You may even remind some customers that they've been meaning to utilize your services. Sales may come in because of your simple email.
Another way to offer great customer service is sending a discount email to someone that buys a product from you. You can set up and automatic system so that it will respond whenever someone has submitted an order to you, and you can keep bringing the customers back. This is a great way to add hundred, or maybe even thousands, of dollars to your bottom line. Everyone loves bargains and sales! Another way you could do this is to offer a coupon code that can be entered at your website, or even personalize a product specifically for them when they reply to your email.
Make sure your e-mail is up and working. You can lose sales very quickly if people write to you only to have their e-mails bounce. If you clean out your inbox so it doesn't get filled beyond capacity this should not be a problem. In addition to people getting frustrated, they may also think of you as a spammer if too many of their e-mails bounce!
Customer service is not just limited to brick and mortar businesses. If you fail to offer good customer service to the people who buy from you, you won't have very many repeat buyers.
