If someone visiting your site has the sense that you are attentive to their needs and care about them, they are far more likely to become customers. Send out an e-mail to your list and ask the people on it what they would like to see you do to improve your business. Let them know you may not be able to implement every idea, but that you do value their ideas. Some of the things you may learn could surprise you. Some customers might remember that they've been meaning to hire you to do some work. That one simple "help me help you" e-mail could bring in several sales!

Another nice touch is to send an email to your customer as soon as they make a purchase that gives them a discount on their next purchase. You can set up and automatic system so that it will respond whenever someone has submitted an order to you, and you can keep bringing the customers back. This can bring you in hundreds of dollars in repeat business if you continue to do this. After all, everyone loves discounts. Another way you could do this is to offer a coupon code that can be entered at your website, or even personalize a product specifically for them when they reply to your email.

Make sure your e-mail is up and working. A good way to turn off people who might otherwise buy from you is to have their e-mails to you bounce. The most important thing you can do in this regard is to simply watch your inbox and make sure it doesn't get overfilled. You definitely don't want to be considered a spammer, and this can happen if many people get e-mails bounced back to them!

Once you start thinking about how to be a provider of good customer service, you will come up with lots of ways to do this. Many people don't think they will get good customer service online; some fear that many web businesses are scams. When you show that your business is one that gives people good and personal service, you can help them to overcome these fears.
