Tips to Help You Prevent Losing RSS Subscribers at Your Blog

by Randi Pierce

When people subscribe to your RSS feed, they are providing you with lots of free traffic, and so you need to reward them by making them as happy as possible so they won't leave. When you want your subscribers to remain right where they're at, you can't go wrong by using the following three tips.

First of all, if you want your subscribers to think highly of you and your blog, then you should keep away from writing paid reviews. Even if it's you creating them, only do so every so often. The reason is because paid reviews are usually seen negatively and you don't want your subscribers to think you're only money motivated and that you actually provide honest reviews. The whole concept of reviewing a product is to bring out the negatives and the positives. Paid reviews aren't going to seem very genuine. If you do this, your subscribers probably won't like it and they'll jump ship and unsubscribe from your RSS feed.

Secondly, if you want your subscribers to stay then you will have to give them a reason to, without distracting them in any way. Of course this refers to using less hyperlinks because people will quickly become diverted when you practice this. You want their whole and sole focus on your content so that they can get the most out of it. Don't just repeatedly give them means of escape. Your posts are supposed to be valuable in themselves where the subscribers learn something new without leaving. Your readers are going to be grateful that they can have everything they want right on one page instead of having to go search for additional information that you didn't provide. Links are ok to use after your posts, as they'll be done reading and ready to go somewhere else. In short, your page should offer them everything they want and more if you want them to subscribe to you.

Lastly, if your readers feel that you don't care for their needs, they will lose interest and won't subscribe for long. This is why you should reply to all their emails and whatever feedback they give. This will reveal to them that you actually do value them that you took time out of your day to answer their communications. Not only that, but learning how to communicate with your readers and knowing what their feedback is can be extremely valuable information. Don't think this is just another form of customer service, because you really care about your readers, and that will make them want to remain subscribed to you.

It should now be apparent that your readers' emotions must be thought of and that you have to give them the consistent quality they ask for. Just ensure your subscribers always get what they came for if you want them to hang on, and that's when you'll start seeing loads of free, targeted traffic.
