A key success factor is building a community with whom you communicate regularly. Those who Like or Subscribe to your page on Facebook, follow and retweet you on Twitter or subscribe to the YouTube Channel. To get and keep these potential customers, you need timely content that's regularly updated; that is interesting, fun and/or useful. Some highly successful social media campaigns have gone viral: people who like them will share them widely.

No-one who has seen the 'Where the hell is Matt?' video will forget it, and neither will Matt's sponsors as the video has exposed them to 42 million unique views. Even the world's longest established, mega corporations now know that original, unusual video and photos are capable of capturing global audiences in a moment via social media marketing.
