3 Effective Ways to Wake Up a Comatose Blog

by Amparo Dillon

You can certainly related to this situation. Someone starts a blog. At first, the blog gets lots of attention -but soon, it gets neglected as the blogger is busy with other tasks. One explanation is that the person isn't aware that a blog needs to be regularly updated to get traffic and rank well. Another possibility is that the marketer's priorities changed, and he or she decided to put more time into another marketing tactic. No matter what caused the situation, it's never to late to resuscitate a blog. As we'll see in this article, it's not very hard to bring a neglected blog back into the limelight.

Consider creating a whole new look for your blog. You know how sometimes when you get tired of your living room you move the furniture around to give it a new feel? Now it once again gives you pleasure to look around your house. The same is true with a blog. There's no law saying your blog has to remain the same year after year. Putting up a new design and cleaning out the old clutter from your sidebars and your code can give you some fresh perspective on why you started blogging in the first place. You'll gain a new appreciation for your blog, and you'll be more likely to work on it. Your efforts will also be noticed by your readers.

Choose other topics to write about. Write an e-book. Start writing your own novel. You should also write an off-line diary. The goal is to write more each and every week. Your writing "mojo" will start to develop, and as it does, post this content your blog everyday. These ideas need to be written down. Just getting up and doing something else, especially if it is frustrating, can make all the difference in the world when it comes to posting on your blog. And hey, if you actually do write an e-book and if that e-book is good, you can sell it through your blog to bring in even more profit!

Your blog might be overdue for a cleanup, which may be why you no longer find it appealing to work on it. Outsource your blogging for a while, or use some content you have ready, and take the time to look over your whole blog. Anything that seems pointless, outdated or like mere spam should be deleted. Perhaps some of your early posts were mainly experiments and not very good -delete them. If you have unpublished drafts, figure out if they're worth keeping or if they should be deleted. You can do a Spring cleaning (any time of year) with your blog, just as you can with a home.

The stagnant blog is something that happens to every Internet Marketer, no matter how hard he or she may plan against it. As we've seen, there are ways to make your blog active and healthy once more. If you want your blog to return to life, just apply the above strategies and tactics. A good blog is worth the effort.
