Why Do We Experience Excessive Frustration
by Alison Wilcox
The question arises as to why we as people experience excessive frustration. For one, feelings such as this are not easy to deal with and with them we are prone to lose our tempers easily. Psychologists may tell you that we get frustrated usually because of something that we are lacking in our lives.
When in a harmonious relationship and one that is a healthy one where both partners are loving and respectful towards one another, partners will feel a sense of self worth and illicit feelings that are nurturing for them both and comforting and gives them a sense of security. Dissonance between married couples comes about due to a variety of reasons. The point here being that when it does enter into their lives, feelings of frustrations prevail and sometimes to a point where the couple decide to break off their relationship entirely.
However, unresolved feelings can lead to feelings of this nature, namely frustrated feelings, and if not understood can snowball to harsher feelings of anger and hatred. Acting on feelings of anger and hatred is common place in society today and are manifested when arguments ensue and even to a degree when a person decides to murder another. On the whole though, these types of feelings require understanding by the individual themselves and it is worthwhile to seek counseling should you feel that you cannot cope as to the reasons why you feel the way you do.
Physical annoyances that leave us feeling irritated can be easily corrected and many will resolve physical problems that they just dislike about themselves by having cosmetic surgery such as face lifts or breast implants. Surgeries such as these rectify these deficient feelings or perceptions we have of ourselves relatively easily but at a cost too. However, they offer viable solutions in ridding ourselves of those bodily parts of ourselves that we believe will add greater fulfillment to our lives.
On occasion though we as human beings are left feeling irritated about those things that have transpired in our lives that we seek answers for. Incidences such as rape or someone who is has stolen money from someone can lead to feelings of this nature especially when a person thought he or she could trust the person who did them harm. In rape cases for example, a person will naturally feel frustrated and violated because someone stole something from them.
This is when a person should take care not to turn excessive feelings of frustrations into actions that can cause harm. It is best trying to understand why it is you are not understanding the reasons behind the way you are feeling. Projecting feelings of your own onto other individuals is not a healthy practice and purely indicates that a person has not come to terms with his or her own frustrations.
Projection of feelings can be understood in this way. Let us say person A is overweight and is feeling frustrated about his physical condition. His obese situation figuratively eats away at any positive feeling he may have about himself.
Feelings of frustration continue to manifest themselves when a person cannot come to terms of not having that which she or he wants. They feel like this because they have not worked through their emotions and developed an acceptance of them. Feelings like these can plague a person for a long time until they develop the wisdom as the adage goes that some things in life you can change, others you cannot and that wisdom and peace comes from accepting and understanding the difference between the two.
