Stop Wasting Your Money On Promotional Products
by Duncan Bakshmidte
Regardless of the size of your company, or the service or product that you specialize in, it is important to let your customers know who and what you are. That means advertising, although as we all know, most people do not even read a newspaper any more, and it can cost you a lot of money to place an ad in a paper.
Advertising on radio once worked, but who listens to the radio nowadays? Even if you did advertise on radio, how do you measure that success. How do you know if anyone is listening and how do you know if your message is getting through?
What about flyers? Well, if your cancel hasn't banned flyers yes, they're on their way. Then there are little box drops. This is no more than spam and almost everyone has a 'no junk mail' sticker on their letter box these days.
With so many former options being unavailable, one will ask what can they do? An increasingly popular choice are promotional products which might be anything from a T-shirt to a magnet with one's logo prominently displayed on it. There are truly a multitude of great choices to spearhead the promotional products campaign.
One word of caution for anyone seeking to go in the direction of promotional products is to keep it fairly simple and basic and not look to get the latest crazy potential fad to do the job. It is also important to target the product to the audience you are trying to reach.
Now, knowing all this, what should you be focusing on instead of wasting your money. The first step is to sit down with a pen and paper and write down who your promotion target audience is and when you've worked that out you simply think of products that match your audience.
Use your common sense when coming up with the most appropriate and useful promotional items. An obvious example might be giving away t-shirts with your brand name on them, if you are an electrician and it is the height of the summer. If it is the middle of winter, you may not want to give out t-shirts with your name and logo on; something else may be more suitable.
It is all too easy to waste money and time on the wrong promotional items, and the key is to keep things simple and obvious.
