The Better Business Bureau which is known as BBB is an organization which was formed in 1912. It is a watchful organization which assures about the reliability of the company. There are many profitable or non-profitable companies in market which take money from consumer to provide services. Some of them provide timely services and earn reputation but some crooked companies which are promise to give service but their motivation is take once money and run away. The Better Business Bureau can be defined as watchdog to monitor several business organizations in United States and Canada. This organization helps consumers to take proper decision and support about selecting best company for their investment.
Organization hurts when an article published in famous ABC network news magazine. Magazine published an article with titled "The Best Ratings Money Can Buy". Some established business owner also reported about biased grading system of BBB. Business owner Wolfgang Puck reported that his businesses rated as F grade because he refuses to give membership fee. Another business tycoon Ritz Carlton also faces similar kind of situation. Survey also denotes two cases where lower grade is changed into higher grade after payment to the organization. A paid member also receives "A+" grade for his two fake companies.
BBB grading can decrease in case of two condition of "Type of Business" (0 to (-41)) category. Business may be grade as "F" for violation of law or materially misrepresent their services or products. Organization also concern with nature of services and products of the company. If organization finds that it is inherent and dissatisfactory for client, then they restrict their grade up to "C" for that particular company.
BBB accreditation is a great honor for companies. Accredited companies also can use arbitration and mediation services as well as logo of this company. But it is not an easy task. Companies should pass all the accreditation standards to become a part of this organization. The steps of accreditation standards are "Build Trust", "Advertise Honesty", "Tell the Truth", "Be Transparent", "Honor Promises", "Safeguard Privacy" and "Embody Integrity".
BBB also monitors other factors like Commitments to Better Business Bureau, Government authorization and license (0 to (-30)), misuse of logo and name of organization for advertising (0 - (-41)), Revocation (0 to (-10)) and Arbitration or Mediation (0 to (-41)).
