Discover the Right Way to Write Your Landing Page

by Marc Dillon

Creating an effective landing page is something that is as essential as getting relevant traffic to your ad. Every single word on your landing page should take your visitor towards your desired call to action. The goal of this article is to provide an insight into how you can craft an ideal, professional landing page without having to settle for shoddy work.

Get Things Ready for the Screen: Before you can start on your landing page, you have to know where your copy will go, how it will be created and the places that you want to concentrate on the most. Remember that your landing page is not going to been on a sheet of paper, but on a computer screen instead. So use a sheet of paper and create a rough draft of your landing page. This is so that you have a good indication of what you will be doing before you start. Determine where the design elements will be placed, where the text will be displayed and how the buttons will be positioned. You have to be comfortable on how much of your content will be viewed above the fold of the screen. This is the copy text of your landing page that can be seen by your readers before they must scroll down the rest of the page. Looking into this in advance will provide you with additional clarity and take some of the stress away when you start producing your landing page.

Obvious Call to Action: When a visitor goes to your page, they are still trying to understand what you have to offer. It's your job to take them from this understanding/analyzing stage to the action stage. You have to advise them what actions need to be taken. Do not think that your visitors will figure out what to do on their own. That just will not happen. It does not matter if you use graphics or text links to get this done. Just make sure that the call to action is not confusing. If your landing page is not that long, then you should include two call of actions on the page. If you have a longer landing page, it would make sense to place five call to actions on that page. In addition to the headline, this is one of the main things that you will always continue to test and tweak in the future. Keep in mind that you landing page can always have the best ad copy around. But, if your call to action is not as obvious as it should be, then your efforts will go unnoticed.

Focus on Them: Keep in mind that you readers do not care about who you really are, the size of your business or the amount of work that you put into this landing page. When a reader arrives on your page, then it is all about them at this point. So make sure that you craft your landing page in the second tense and not in the first. Every we word should be replaced with a you word. This is so that you're talking about your prospect rather than your own achievements. Use a lot of 'Your' and 'You' rather than 'Us' and 'Our'. The main thing that your visitors will be wondering is, "how does this apply to me?" This is one simple tweak that can help you boost the conversion rate of your landing page in no time.

Various reasons exist for a landing page that does not convert. But one the most common ones is that it isn't convincing enough. Using the things that you have learned in this article will enable you to draft ad copy for your landing page that is very successful.
