Improve Your Selling Skills
by Nick Hill
As a marketing rep, your revenue is usually based on your sales numbers. Your sales statistics are a mirrored image of a mixture of market trends among customers, but as importantly, your selling skills.
The old proverb "a good product will sell itself" is a fair comment, nevertheless it really is down to the selling skills of the sales people to get the product to be a hit.
So how do you improve your selling skills?
1. Be pleased to listen.
Doing all the chatting in the selling process is the fastest way to lose your prospects. Have that patience and that willingness to listen to everything that your possible purchasers want to say. Remember, folk in general simply love talking about themselves and their issues. They may appreciate it if you listen to them intently.
2. Sell value.
Instead of targeting your sales display on the price of your goods and services, I would recommend that you pay more notice to the good stuff that your offerings can bring to the lives of your prospective buyers. Communicate all of their features, benefits, selling points, and competitive advantage.
3. Exploit sales training programs.
There's so much to learn all about the field of selling. So as to keep a lid on of the game, I would recommend that you attend relevant coaching programmes which are being offered in the offline and online arena.
4. Learn from the experts.
Know how successful sellers are doing their thing. You can watch them in action, read their articles and blogs, or buy their ebooks (if they have any). This is the best thing you can do to follow their footstep.
5. Be assured.
This is among the keys to be successful in this undertaking. You are going to need to know the way to project a confident image particularly when talking about your products and when making an attempt to persuade your prospects to purchase. These people will surely not buy from you if you sound doubtful during your sales display.
6. Research your product.
Stay current with the latest information on your produce. Read any brochures or internet sites hooked up to your selected product or brand and be as current as possible with your info you intend to use as part of your sales presentation. Read product manuals and become an authority in all features and how to utilize them.
7. Research what consumers are saying about your product.
Have a quick look at web-based forums and commentary about your product. See what concerns or praise people have for your product. Learn how to address the concerns and use the praise points in your sales show. Listen to shoppers who you run into during your sales presentations. Learn what they do and hate about your product. Find out how to address their concerns and increase their praise of the product.
Concerns are a closed door to a sale, learn how to counter them and open the door. Praise is an open door to a sale, guide the buyer into the sale easily.
8. Play around with different features and benefits in a sales presentation.
Some features and benefits actually sell a product, some aren't so productive.
Experiment during your sales presentations to find out which ones are a part of successful sales and which of them are not.
9. Try experimenting with different closing strategies.
Try very hard closes and soft closes. See which ones work best with customer and product mixtures. Some products need a hard close. Some customers need a soft close. Try different differences till you find a high proportion of success combination.
This are just a few methods of improving your selling skills. Good Luck.
