Honestly! What Can A Marketer Learn From A Plasterer?
by Stephane Kolinsky
Heck, all of us are in business right? Everyone can learn from each other can't we? Why should we not learn from one another then?
I believe it is a good idea to look beyond the end of our noses and grab a new perspective on business done well. With fresh eyes comes a new viewpoint. With a refreshed viewpoint we are more likely to feel in control and to feel like we have options.
So with the feel good opening out of the way, lets look at what we can learn from others. I am going to start by looking at what we can all learn from Plasterers.
I have got to tell you, my kitchen needed doing so I bought the services of a well-recommended Plymouth Plasterer. He does something I can not do, and well, what I do isn't precisely his cup of tea either, but here I am writing about what we can all learn from a great plasterer.
Funny the way in which the world works isn't it!
Here is what Ziggy taught me that we could all learn from:
1. The early bird catches the worm. Let it be standard practice for you to get out there, work hard and meet people in the community. A good online reputation is built on a foundation of a great real world reputation. Tough to develop from behind a computer.
2. Always inspect the job, go away and then come back with a specific and honest quote. Now marketing isn't plastering, but in either trade people will try and put you on the spot, challenge the value of your service and rush you into making compromises. Plasters don't leave any room for that kind of crap, the whole world knows the routine and plays by the guidelines. Now wouldn't that be nice in our world?
3. Adequate preparation saves pounds. Good plasters quote a do-it-all price and a price for just doing the plastering. They're clear on what preparation needs to be done for you to save cash on the quote. Should it not be the same for marketing clients?
4. Tidy-up after yourself! Mopping the floor after doing the job meant a lot to me. It didn't need to be done although it was. What can you do to leave the job nice and tidy?
There you go then. 4 things marketing pros can learn from plasterers.
