Although there are a variety of methods used to introduce the love a books to children, one of the best is to give them a Children's book of the month club membership. It is extremely reassuring for many adults to learn that some of the same things they may have enjoyed as kids are available for their own children or charges to fall in love with as well. This is because today television, video games, texting, tablets, apps, YouTube videos, music and all sorts of other forms of entertainment are competing with reading for our children's attention and time.
This desire to get kids interested in reading is important because there have been numerous studies showing that reading builds skills that help people their whole lives. A strong reader is also someone who has honed the strong skills of comprehension and complex thought. This is because people who regularly read books successfully get a lot of mental-strengthening practice of keeping focused and following complex themes, plots and subplots over hundreds of pages worth of storyline. A reading habit has the ability to help folks in numerous areas of their lives.
Yes, the truth remains that reading is fun and the top motivation for kids to keep on climbing into pages. There is a reason that each tween or teen generation seems to have a series of books that really catch fire: they are fun! The most recent example of this is the passion wrought forth by the Twilight books. Gee whiz, J.K. Rowling used the popularity of her Harry Potter tales to become Britain's richest crownless woman.
Clearly, reading is a giant love for many a youth and teen. All children need to have the door to a life of reading opened for them and, as we said above, membership to a Children's book of the month club is one of the greatest ways to open such a door.
One way that a children's book of the month club can really get kids interested in books and reading is by sending a gift wrapped book to the child in the mail each month. One of the other, and finest, features of a children's book of the month club is that the young members are allowed to choose the genres they get selections from so that there is a much better chance for the children to enjoy the readings they get in the mail each month.
